A celebration of food and culture in Somerville, MA

The Somerville Fermentation Festival is a one-day celebration of the world of fermented foods and the layers of community that create them. Free & open to the public, this event features a diverse vendor marketplace, a Speaker Series, hands-on community activities, and more.

What to Expect at the Festival

  • A diverse marketplace of fermented food vendors from across New England sampling & selling their products

  • A series of speakers and panel discussions on various aspects of fermented food

  • A book signing with local authors Alex Lewin and Rich Shih

  • A “Kraut Mob” - a free, guided make-your-own sauerkraut table

  • A culture swap - bring a SCOBY or starter culture to share and take a different one home!

  • Local beer, wine, & cider available for purchase from the Armory bar
